Art Exhibition: Anne Amelang
Capturing the shadows of trees in their elusive play with light and reproducing them disembodied from their source in urban spaces inspires the work of Berlin based artist Anne Amelang.
In her pictorial sculptures she utilizes distinctively architectural materials from which our metropolitan environments consist paradoxically referencing the ephemeral nature of her subjects.
These representations reach an absurd beauty in their outcome – it seems the trees, that once cast these lively shadows, are still present on site. This phenomenon of aesthetic cognitive dissonance inspires the sensory experience of the viewer - it is wonderfully communicative and through this integrating dialogue allows functional modern material to melt into its environment.Back to home page
